It's a complexity of the human race, this behavior, I certainly don't support it, but I also do not support laying down any rights or firearms. I for one, don't believe the problem can be solved and nothing of any real substance is being done about it. Society is not being educated properly about all of these things, they are instead taught to be soft and are being sheltered from reality, which then breeds fear mongering and intense regulation agenda's about these matters.
I'll use myself as an example, I had very early education about firearms, bolstered later by formal training. That built a solid foundation from which morality could be upheld. Now, whether a person want's to act on emotion, well it typically does not happen unless it is pre-meditated, (let's remove domestic and similar violence where a person loses control and immediately acts from this). In that case, the person needs help in controlling themselves to avoid acting.
How do you steer a person away from committing violent atrocities such as mass killings by attempting to restrict, regulate and so on ? Trust me, there are ways that same person can easily obtain a weapon, ammunition and so on because they will either go black market, or to any gathering such as a gun show where someone walking around with a little flag in a barrel can sell to that person. These events are supported by law abiding citizens, and rightfully so, they won't support these events being compromised in states that have a strong following. Shows have changed here, people have even pushed to stop long running events that have run for years. So the person who seeks to endeavor in acting will just go to whatever source will work even if it is hundreds of miles away.
If you cannot diffuse the person long before they load up and embark on a killing spree, you will do nothing towards stopping it from happening with the exception of being prepared for such person to attack a church or other high attendance gathering, including schools, places of work and so on. At that point you have a chance of stopping or minimizing it.
Fact is, we live in a society where this element is reality and instead of being soft about it, it is time to address the mitigation of it and being prepared to combat it.
Can anyone tell me how you can differentiate between those that will endeavor to commit mass murder, and those who will always be law abiding, upstanding citizens that responsibly own and use their firearms ???? Can you tell me who is who, 100% of the time?
That my friend is where the dilemma is and that is one tall order to solve, because you cannot sort 100% of these people out, it is a complexity of the human race with no absolute way to determine the difference 100% of the time. The law abiding side who will stand up for their rights will not give in to those who want to compromise those rights with an attempt to further regulate. This will eventually materialize into mass civil disobedience, followed by escalation if confiscation is attempted.
Does anyone not think that when they come to confiscate, that at some point they will encounter resistance that will respond with the same force being applied to confiscation ? This situation does nothing for anyone, just makes it worse.
