Never used used oil as there is already dirt in there to be sucked up into the mesh that is almost impossible to get cleaned. I just used the cheapest oil I could get, did not mater on weight of oil. But then I was not running in 20 below weather. And this was when all tractors on farm had the oil bath type. Still what my 2 Fords have. The Ford 5000 that I farmed with had the oil bath but same age 4000 had paper filter, always thought oil bath was better. But some of my oil bat cleaners took a quart and 3/4 of the second. Now if the used engine oil still looked like new then I might have tried it but when engine was drained the oil was to contaminated to ever try it to spend extra money because of that dirt making the oil bath not working correctly. Same thing with the car and truck oil bath type.
