I've switched gears for a bit. Surfing YouTube one day and found a thing called a "putt putt" or "pop pop" boat.
Uses a candle to heat a "boiler" made from the domed bottom of a soda can. Prime the boiler and tubes with water and light the candle under it. The heat makes a steam bubble which forces water out the tubes sort of like a jet boat. Low pressure after the outflow sucks more water back in, heat, repeat. Not fast but the cycle will continue as long as the candle (or other heat source) is burning.
My experimental made out of a sardine can worked well enough that I got to thinking about radio control.
Made a larger hull out of aluminum flashing, installed a bigger boiler and an inexpensive RC receiver and servo to run the rudder. Pretty much complete, just waiting for a calm day to take it back to a backwater in the stream that is my back property line and try it out.
If it works well enough, I'll take it back apart and paint it up pretty.
