From the shape of the main fraim I can tell it is a low whel model and the tag is hidden down close to the gear box, you need to be a contorsionest to read it. But being a low wheel rake it has to be one of two models and as the back wheel has a pressed steel mount instead of the cast mount it is a No. 45G rake with the G standing for ground driven and made in the 1950's with end of production for all rakes of that style with either the large steel wheel or the wheel for a car tire ending in 58 with the 45 ending about 55-56. If I had my book handy I could tell you years they were made. You if you can find the tag it should say Lot No. and that would tell me year and what batch of rakes it was for that year. It will have a reverce gear in that gearbox for tedding. Some parts are easy to get like the teeth and others are no longer avaible. It should have about a 90 weight gear oil in that gear box up to full mark on dipstick. That JD would take the same gear oil and was built at the same time. The NI is a better rake than the Deere.
