I hook all my cameras to an external battery. Lawn mower batteries work great. Not heavy to carry around. Still have to have the internal batteries. I take a lot of videos and that takes more battery than still pictures. I have one camera out all winter and I put the lithium AA batteries in there along with the external battery. Showed 100 per cent a few days ago.
Some camera's take 6 volt but most are 12 volt so you have to be aware of that so as not to damage camera. One camera out of my four still uses 8 AA batteries but requires only 6 volt external. One cheap camera uses D size batteries but that one will not take many pictures before they are low. External battery keeps it going a real long time.
One by the barn will get a wild hair sometimes and take 4 thousand still pictures in one night. I have to change sensitivity setting on it with weather changes. It is also the most expensive camera of the bunch.
Also, you can set two camera's side by side and they will capture different pictures sometimes. Some times one will miss a picture and then next time the other one will even though the object is in the view for way longer than interval settings on camera.
Upload one or more videos to your post. Photo and video filesizes should be less than 5MB. Formats allowed are gif, jpg, png, ogg, mp4, mov, and avi. Be sure to use filenames without spaces or special characters, and filetypes of 3 digits lower case.
