That was Saturday’s job. Hook up the Wards hammermill in the corner of the granary. Carried the cob corn from the adjacent crib. 3 shovels of corn, 1 oats. Winter time you ground a big 2 week pile because it wouldn’t heat. Summer not so much with the cattle on pasture. We fed ground feed in the parlor stalls at each milking so everyday there were 5-7 sacks to fill and bring to the barn. 2 rows of 3 on the loader and 1 on top, or all laying horizontal on the 3pt. rack Pa built. The earlier participant (older brothers) had a sled made from Model-T bumpers to transport this delicacy in the winter so a cold tractor wouldn’t have to be started. At an early age I could tie a fast and tight Miller’s Knot and wrestle a 70# burlap sack.

After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
