rusted tire tubes

Does anyone know a good way to get the caked on rust off tire tubes? I have two good tubes that hold air but I don't want to put them on my new rims with all the caked on rust left from the old rims. (tractor had calcium in tubes and some leaked at some time) It takes forever to work it off piece by piece. Thanks for any ideas!
