That is something I couldn't understand. I bought a fully cosmetically restored (drive train only had 3900 hrs and was in pristeen condition), new OEM paint and decals, new cab interior, new 134a AC system, new rubber, really nice 1979 4230 back in 2005 when I retired. I needed to move the rears for some reason and in researching the subject found out what you know about knocking the wedges out.
I found it absurd to have to take a 20 lb sledge and beat the ell out of your nice new tractor to be able to move the rears. I got it done at a tire shop but marks were there from the process.....ugh!
