I went through this very thing earlier this year when I was looking for my first "real" tractor. There was an ample supply of 9Ns, 8Ns, and a couple of 2Ns. The price range was about $2500 for beat up to about $3500 for good condition. I stumbled across a Fordson 2000 Super Dexta which as not advertised, but for sale. There were several things I really liked. First, it was $2500, and everything was in very good condition. Second, it had a live PTO. Third, and I did not discover this until after I had purchased it, its lowest gear is a little bit slower than the others. So far the only thing I have used with it has been a 6' King Kutter rotary cutter, but it runs the thing with no effort at all, and my first foray into one of my fields was to cut 18" high grass and weeds (on a hill). The power is great, and it starts right up. I have not had to do anything to it yet but change the coolant and various oils. It is a real "Tim Taylor" machine, with lots of power, and if it were me, I'd go with the Dexta again. Good luck with it. You can see some pictures of mine at the link below. When you get to the main page, scroll down to the tractor link. Bill

After numerous dead ends for a replacement carb, I went to work fixing mine.I soldered new floats on the float arm, they came from an old motorcycle carb, replaced the packing on the throttle shaft with o-rings, cut new ga
