I have a question concerning Kabota diesel engines. A friend of mine had a Bobcat skid steer loader powered by a Kabota 3 cylinder diesel engine that had so much blow by that the engine would stay wet with oil. We had to add oil every hour or so because it would be very low. The engine had only about 500 hours on it. He sold it at a loss to get out from under the problem The guy who bought it told us later that one of the pistons was so loose in the bore that it appeared to be an standard piston running in an overbore cylinder. He bought all new pistons for it and it seems to be fine. Another friend has a Katoba tractor with a 3 cylinder diesel that has less than 700 hours on it and it too has execessive blow by. It smokes from the vent and drips oil ocassionaly. He is thinking of overhauling it. The question: Is this normal for a Kabota? I thoughty these were supposed to be exceptionally good engines. 500 hours and then and overhaul ain't what I would call a good engine. Can any one shed some light on this subject. Thanks, Jerry B

Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S
