perkins smoking when cold

I have a 6-354" perkins in my combine(510 massey) and when I start it, it smokes blue for a good 10 minutes or so. After it's warmed up it does not smoke. the engine has less than 100 hrs. on overhaul so I know it isn't ring blow by and it uses no oil, is this normal? the only diesels I am familar with are J.D. 2 cylinders and they don't smoke the engine runs fine but it is a little slow starting under 40 degrees.
