Grandpa Love, I've found your ohmmeter is typically a conductivity tester and not an accurate ohmmeter. If you touch both leads together good change you won't get zero ohms. Unlike the old analog ohmmeters you can't adjust the zero. So your ohmmeter will give you a ball park reading.
The old rule of thumb, primary current is 4 amps. So if you moved the positive lead to the 10 amp hole. Move the rotary switch to 10 a. Connect the negative lead of the meter to the negative of the battery, the positive lead to the negative of coil. Connect the + of coil to + of 12v battery and you should get 4 amps. If you get 8 amps, you need a ballast resistor.
My Jubilee has a 6v coil and a ballast resistor. The resistor uses 6v, the coil uses 6v and 4 amps.
A 12v coil should use 4 amps without a ballast resistor.

Rollins, son of the landowner, used the tractor. In the winter 1985, while in his possession the engine block cracked and was unrepairable. He had told my father
