It has teeth a foot long that run vertical in the soil The tines new are about 14 inches mine are getting worn down but the still work the top 4 to 6 inches which is all you need or want for seedbed prep . I only run it on plowed sod ground going back into grass or alfalfa otherwise i use a disc or a field cultivator with spike tooth harrow
