The 5000 is one of the best tractors ever built, but I agree, I'd rather have the eight speed than the SOS. One of the farmers I worked for had two of them with SOS's - they weren't the smoothest shifting transmission. He had one of them one the blower and forgot to disengage the transmission. It dropped into reverse while running wide open - made and awful mess of the blower Pete

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
