We had a cow in the barn that went down in the mud a week ago Sunday. I put her in there to get some meat back on her bones. I had that abandoned twin a week ago today and put that in the barn with her to get it out of the weather. The calf had been sucking her for the last four or five days and she was letting it. I found a dead calf yesterday afternoon and I think I found the young cow that had it. The calf had some white streaks on its face and she's the only cow over there with any white on her face.
We got her in the barn last night, put her with the abandoned calf and put the other cow back out. I bottle fed the calf after supper while the cow was eating grain. After he finished the bottle,he went over to her and started sucking. She didn't kick him away. The real kicker,I took a bale out,and the cow we turned back out last night had her calf. Pretty good sized bull calf for as poor as she was looking. I had quite a time catching it and holding on to it to tag it.
