Handful of stories here for me. Dad was always one to keep half a tank or better, always said he wanted enough gas to get to Rochester MN if needed (200 miles), and that was any vehicle that was worthy of the trip.
I had a pickup we used to use to transfer from a farm 2 mile away, no license etc. carried a 2 gallon can and ran it on E all the time drove dad a little nuts.
Now to the fun. Newish to me pickup Took it to Lesuer with a trailer buddy and I got to visiting and not paying attention. Heard a Ding but oil pressure and temp were ok so kept on going. Bout 10 miles later lost power, OH that is what the ding was, was carriing a can so no worries. Part of the problem is the pickup this one replaces had a 40 gallon tank so making the round trip wasn't a worry.
