The JD mounting system just isn't very compatible with others. But, with enough time, skill and desire It could be done I'll bet. But, the 318 was available with 46, 48 and 50" decks over the years. The 48 and 50 could be had with a later, deeper design. That basic design fit 140, 300, 312, 314 316, 318, 322. AM100164.
Maybe you will have better luck if you expand your search to include those donors. There are a lot of the older 46and 48 versions around, newer design is harder to find. JD parts still shows that as a current number but under availability they note 'see your dealer'.
My dealer has always been able to locate stuff like that for me. but not cheaply, sometimes not even reasonalbly priced.
