Only ever moldboard plowed a couple times in my life, I'm too young to have been exposed to it much. When I did moldboard plow, my dad got the first few rounds all set for me on a big field and told me to just keep doing what he was doing, so I did. That was probably 25 years ago, and I forgot everything about it. I guess that's sort of how I fit with a soil saver, but I don't make my inner circles shorter each round at the ends, if that makes sense? I just start along one side of the field (soil saver mind you) and head to the other end, drive along the headland 10 or so passes wide, then head straight back down the field. Then just keep on making rounds until that area is done. When it is, I move to the end of the tilled area, and start a new loop section of 10 widths wide or so. Then when I have the entire width worked, make 2 passes down the headlands and it's done. I guess it's sort of close the way that's done, but I never understood the purpose or use of a backfurrow or deadfurrow, or which one was which and where it went.

Unless you are from another planet, physically or otherwise, I don’t think our internal combustion buddies will talk and tell us their problems. But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
