Soil conditions. We have a sandy loam here. The guys that tried no till said it was good the first 2 years. Then soil compaction really started to cut into yields. So they took to chisel plowing. Last few years some have gone back to mow board. Not every year on every field. But they found they go 3-4 maybe even 5 years with a chisel plow, then mow board and the yields stay pretty constant on irrigated land.
