First let me say I own a 1999 Ford 550 powerstroke so I'm prejudice to a certain extent.I've 72000 miles on it and I just last week replaced the set of tires that came on the truck, try to do that with a Dodge tin metal chasis. As far as lugging is concerned a 6 cylinder probably will out lug an 8 cylinder, but lugging is the best way to destroy a crankshaft in any thing.Diesels or any engine for that matter should be run in its Maxium power RPM range, thats why you have a trans with lots of gearsAs far as weight and trailering ability I can gross 19000 on the truck and 26000 combination,no Chevy or Dodge is rated to do this unless you go to a "big truck" configeration. And lastly power I don't see many Cummins engines passing me when I go to pulls with anything close to the load I haul.
