I would say that the Cummins is by far the better engine. You can get a '97 truck which had the inline pump and for about $200 you will have all of the power you will ever want. I have a newer one and pull a cat D4 and a backhoe with it and gross 34,000 lbs and power wise I can go as fast as I feel safe. I know this is really working my back axle but I have 70,000 miles on the truck with no problems so far except the front brakes don't last long. The crankshaft and connecting rods of the Cummins are much, much heavier than the powerstrokes so it can take the extra stresses. My family has 6 of the dodges from the early '90s up to a '99 and love them all. If you want to chat about it my email is Keithw1975@yahoo.com. Keith
