flush 'er out

I opened the plate to the lifter gallery on the side of my Farmall H's block. Amazing amount of sludge in there, I can scoop it out with a spoon. Anyway, I want to flush it out before I take much more off the block. I figure I can squirt diesel or kerosene in there and keep a bucket under the oil pan to get the dripping as they come out the bottom. Which would be better to clean that stuff out, minding that I'm a bit cheap, diesel or the more expensive kero? To all those who may be wondering, yup, I'll be doing this in a well ventilated area with no sources of flame or sparks and an extinguisher nearby. Thanks! BTD
