Hi B. Back in the 50's my older friend and I were fishing off in the country on his 50 model Ford. When we started to go home we heard a clear pop from under the hood. He knew exactly what it was and pulled the distributor cap. Sure enough, the rotor button was broken. I was too young and he didn't drink, so we didn't have a pop top (which hadn't been invented yet anyway). He had a tackle box that was lined with thin aluminum and he pulled a piece of aluminum out. After cutting it to fit with pliers and knife, we put it in the old rotor button and came home. The car wouldn't run but about 30, but my friend said that it would look fast if we were out on the road walking and it went by. I decided that this was a good reason to take up drinking in my old age in case I ever had another 50 model Ford to quit on me.
