Less to do with milking than confinement. A neck chain will do the same job. Had those darn things when I started dairying. They were a constant pain in the backside. All of the swivels , eyes and chains were worn out, and mine were old Pedelar stantcions , and you couldn’t buy new parts to repair them, it was always a patch it up job. I finally ripped them all out and put in a head rail, and tied the cows to the rail.
