The last two owners have been using it by means of putting it in reverse with the break to change the machine to steer to the right and breaking normally to steer to the left. So it is not frozen in that sense. The owner said sometimes people run them into trees to break them break clutches free but he did not try it yet because the idea scared him. $1000 in parts does not sound so bad, I was told by one guy they break it down and put it back together in a day, but the same guy said that he does not buy it because it is the dry clutch and they rust up or go out of adjustment all the time. He said it was a straight 350 because it has the extra sifter on the dash. I put down $1000 and got the machine contract for a total of $8500. Not sure if I should just run for my life or dive in head first. It sounds doable here. I had also spoken to Jesco Inc, but they want money for talking. Cat was more helpful, they told me I needed $100,000.00 in tools. At least I got them on the phone. But I see online people taking off the tracks with a hammer or a clamp and a torch. Another Jesco Inc south of me told me to expect to pay $3000 in parts and $3000 in labor, worst case scenario. But that seems to be overkill because this issue is typical and may only involve cleaning it up. Oh, just remembered, the seller told me the new clutches have new parts that do not freeze up, but they are more expensive. So what do you think? Should I say good buy to my deposit or should I take a chance on this being a two day repair and $1000 in parts. Only needs one side worked on. Thanks guys.

Today's Featured Article - 12-Volt Conversions for 4-Cylinder Ford 2000 & 4000 Tractors - by Tommy Duvall. After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
