You're right as far as you go, I am living in the past, the same one as my tractor. The old seals in these engines/hyds will slowly deteriorate with constant exposure to the detergents,additives in todays oils. I can't complain about using the factorys recommendations, my 1953 TO30 engine has never been apart to even replace a seal other than when I adjusted the valves, I installed a NOS valve cover gasket then. I just post my opinions here, trying to share my experiences and knowledge of H.Ferguson tractors to assist others and promote these fine machines. If you don't agree with me that's fine, I spent 21 years in the Army defending your right to do so.
