That's a tough one.....I thought about all of the possibilities, and it's so subjective, that I don't think there is an answer. Surely the modern tractors are the best ever. Light weight, Fuel efficient, versatile. But in my mind, if one was to try and picture the one tractor that had the most effect on the American farn, I would think it had to be the Ford N series. Throw in the AC B, the IH Cub, and you have a real group of tractors that took the average American farmer working horses to the next level. In shear numbers, this period of 1938-39 to about 1950 was the heyday of farm modernization, and the quality of the products is still evident. As for the claim that because so many of these small Fords (and cubs and AC C's and B's) are for sale are a testiment to their longevity and usefullness. Just look at the number of them you see at shows....almost none. That is because they are all still working while the JD letter series are riding the trailers. And that is not a dig at JD, it's just a fact that these little machines were fantastic then and now. Take Care Steve
