Tractor tires are like clutches. They were made to be reliable for the homesteader. Wear is just another indicator of remaining life left. Tractor tires that are starting to wear are no big deal. The wear should be similar on each tire. The leading edge should not be completely rounded though. You don't want a tire with large gashes either or cracked badly from age. Worse of all is to find a tractor with the not recommended width as this means the tranny has seen more than it's share of work and wear. If you see fenders that have the corners lopped off, that's a dead giveaway.
