That rebuilt MCD NO. 9 looks great. When properly adjusted, I have found they are hard to beat for cutting hay with horses. I wonder about the stated date of 1959 for the mower. Is this a typo? In Lynn Miller's book "The Horsedrawn Mower Book, Restoration & Operation of McCormick #9 Mowers" (2007), he states for the NO.9 "Last models built and sold new from 1939 to 1949." The date of manufacture is cast into the underneath side of the frame. Lay on you back and slide your head beneath the frame just below the seat and you can read the date, if it has not been covered with the new paint job. You can look forward to some enjoyable mowing with your team.
