Consider the dealer brand that is closest to you. That sometimes makes all the difference when you have to get parts or have something serviced. It depends on how mechanically inclined you are. The utlity tractors bring a premium price. Row crop versions(sit higher, thus higher center of gravity) are cheaper, and are available in wide front or narrow front. Lots of tractors to choose from. I would personally go for a 300, 350, 400, 450 Farmall with a wide front. Add a three point hitch or look for one with the factory 2 point hitch and convert it to 3pt. Other tractors include a Allis WD45, or D17. Or a Cockshutt 30 or 40, which look really neat and have all the goods like live hydraulics and live pto. You could probably get a nice running tractor with a loader on it already for under $2500. Powersteering is nice when you are running a loader. I'll leave the John Deeres, Olivers and M-Ms to the other guys to fill in. As for your questions: No you don't need a 4wd. Just weights and snow chains. Multiple tractors is up to you- less time changing implements, but more costs to maintain. $1800 or more depending on make and model- watch out for tires, they are expensive to replace. Look in the farm classified ads for the best deals, the dealer lots are always much more expensive. What part of Ontario are you in? Upper North Dakota and Minnesota have lots of tractors around.. Let me know and I'll point to some of the classifieds I look at. Do your homework on the tractor before buying- there's lots of good deals and not so good deals out there. For more info try your local bookstore on antique tractors, or ask away on this board. good luck!

But alas, my carb foiled me again, it would fire a second then flood out. After numerous dead ends for a replacement carb, I went to work fixing mine.I soldered new floats on the float arm, they came from an old motorcycle carb, replaced the packing on the throttle shaft with o-rings, cut new ga
