Yes the blocks are the same on the outside, all bolt holes match up. the most difference is the water pump mounting and thermostat housing. The heads may be from the same casting but machined for a different application (combine, cotton picker, loader, farm tractor, power unit, etc) which placed the water outlet or water pump at a different position. I installed a 329 from a cotton picker in a farm tractor which had had a 359. I had to alter the thermostat housing and change the rear engine housing from the 359 to the 329. The 329 was rated at a higher hp so the smaller displacement had sufficient power for the tractor. I know of a tractor in Alabama with a 359 that could be bought pretty cheap.
