Many years ago, the neighbor at the bottom of the hill, ran a small business in a shop that he expanded from a 2 car garage, a rather nice addition. The shop itself was kept pristine, same with his tools. This guy was a former employee of G.E., apparently had patents from his time there and was guarded during WWII from what I have been told. He had some incredible things of the past displayed in this shop, one being a G.E gasoline engine powered generator set for a lift bridge over the Hudson River. All kinds of other things, always saw him at the fair with a hit & miss engine shelling corn etc. His wife worked beside him, cleaning the tools as he used them, painting what needed it, always keeping everything in a meticulous manner. They lived in the house which I find out was built in 1931, since it was new and the fireplace was never even used, looks new to this day. He repaired small engines, lawnmowers etc, and before any of that entered his shop, it had to be cleaned thoroughly. Ironically, his wife sold Sherwin-Williams paint if I recall the brand, she ran that side of it, he the other. Never had any children, and really did not stray that much from this, like taking a trip, vacation etc. Very nice and pleasant people. I'm actually pursuing the acquisition of this place, the thing about the tools is what reminded me of this. I'll have to dig out the photos from the auction some interesting stuff he had for sure.
