This year has been utterly disgusting. Still no snow. Yesterday was 67 ridiculous degrees. Granted; Detroit does not get as much snow as the U.P. but September is over, I want December weather. Last year was my first year in the country. We moved in the second week in December. The following Monday morning we got 28" in a day, then 13" the next. What a mess. I ran out of gas, and my battery was dead on my new (48' Allis WD) tractor. I called my boss in the morning to tell him I would not be in as I was trying to tunnel my way thru the snow belt. I had only my Shadow at home, I thought what the heck front wheel drive, let's give it a whirl. Got twenty feet then the snow was up to the windshield. Bad idea. Fortunately my dad worked afternoons and came and dropped off gas and my charger with his cherokee (those things go thru snow better than any vehicle outside of tracks that I have ever seen). After that I had a blast. I had no blade, only a loader. Boy did I have some great snow hills. I also learned the value of weighted tires and chains.This year I rebuilt my loader, beefed up the blade and now am eagerly anticipating a big snow. I will be terribly depressed if we have a green Christmas.
