Bob, you're right on! In the flying business, especially during the transition from 1960's jet fighters to the 80's and 90's, we called it the KISS ("Keep It Simple Stupid!") principle-design it so it works, we can understand it, operate it, and not have to fix it all the time. The U-2 was designed that way and the aircraft has been flying almost 50 years and is more valuable now, than ever.
