I like the maintenance-free aspect of the breakerless kits from Pertronix. That said, getting parts for that fails - even now - is more difficult then with original points. 10-20 years from now - might be impossible. At least from Pertronix. Points will always be available. I had some of the early 70s kits back when the company was Per-Lux and repair parts disappeared for them pretty fast.
Again I like the breakerless kit. I suggest to anyone who does it - keep either a spare kit around or at least the old breaker plate with points and condenser.
Pertronix is not a high energy electronic conversion. Just a kit to eliminate points. You do NOT require resistor wires or plugs as some claim. It all depends on which version of Pertronix. There are three different models and each has its own install requirements. Standard Ignitor, Ignitor II and Ignitor III.

To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
