Coil resistance for a coil that runs on a 6 volt system (about 7 volts when in use because of charging) should have about 1.7 to 2.1 ohms. That coil can also be used on a 12v system (at 14 volts because of charging) with a ballast resistor of about 2 ohms. A 12v coil for use with no resistor will measure about 3.5 to 4.2 ohms. These measurements are out of circuit, from small terminal to small terminal. Jim
