I've never given that adjustment a lot of consideration. As long as it's close, the pedal adjustment will compensate for it. Obviously you want the fingers to all be the same height, and chances are they will be.
If this is like the older 35 series MF's, there is another adjustment, the secondary release bolts clearance. The clearance should be .090" between the bolt head and the plate. That is "if" it is the same as the older models.
I'm assuming you have an alignment shaft? Trying to stab a dual clutch without it is going to be near impossible! It's easy to damage the clutch, even the transmission, trying to force one together that is misaligned.
