With a 12 volt system that runs from 9 volts when cranking up tp 15 volts when running? Total primary resistance with points ignition is around 4 ohms. You can have a 2 ohm coil fed by 2 ohm resistor. Or a very common 2.2 ohm coil with a 1.8 ohm resistor. Or for the coils sold for 12 volt systems with "no external resistor needed" there is a fixed 4 ohm resistance in the coil primary. They ALL work fine. Just a matter of how you prefer to do it.
