I thought I posted this earlier, but I don't see it..if it is a duplicate forgive me. One night about 15 summers ago (geez, was it really THAT long ago? I'm getting OLD!) some buddies got a snootfull, and they decided it would be fun to have a midnight whistle blow. I thought it sounded GREAT!!!... some neighbors were less appreciative and sicced the gendarmes on us. :( I've taken a bit of ribbing because I keep rotating the whistles on my engine. I usually have 3 or 4 on it during show season, but one year as many as 6. (The fellow who oned it before me had 12 on a manifold, but it starts looking a bit like a calliope with that many ;) ) This summer, just for giggles, I even had a steam horn off a tugboat on it for a while. (I mostly sell off those I don't like and buy others... I currently own 11, including two which are trade bait, and one which is waiting for a new bell.) If I had to pick 3 "favorites" it would be the 5" 3-chime Lonergan, the 3" 3-chime Buckeye, and the weird homebrewed "Mockingbird" I got off ebay last summer for about $60. Our local club is planning to hold informal whistle blows on the Sunday afternoon of all 3 shows next season. It will give people who own whistles, but don't have an engine, a chance to blow the spiders out.

After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion.
