Dan, a professional faller can put those trees right where you want them. Just make sure that you check their references and experience level. If you must continue with your plan to pull them, first consider the tremendous amount of energy in those trees that you are going to try to man handle. Also consider that you cannot do a straight pull on the trees unless you have an awfully long rope, you can`t drive out from under a falling tree. Most times, a snatch block provides a "change of direction" for a pull so you are actually moving away from the direction of fall. Obviously you need an anchor point which will withstand the force required to force the tree. Many trucks and tractors and even small dozers have been pulled by a falling tree also. Arborists use a throw bag, a weighted nylon or leather bag, with a light line and then a bull rope in this case to get the rope up there. You want to make sure that you get the rope around the trunk of the tree and not just a limb, even a big limb. You should atleast consult a pro arborist. Your family will not be thinking about the money you saved if something doesn`t go the way you planned it. Russ
