I had a similar problem and instead of buying an expensive replacement, I went the easy way. I went to the local hardware store and bought a small diameter garen hose. I cut it and fit it onto the steering wheel after I cut off all of the cracked stuff. It works best to strip the steering wheel of all previous grip. Then, I put on the garden hose and wraped it a million time with black elecrical tape. Then, I put on a larger diameter of garden hose and did the same thing.. To top that off, I bought a vinyl steering wheel cover from wal-mart and put that on. It looks pretty slick. Plowboy.
