Just last night the Smithsonian channel on Dish had a show about "the dog", aka the 10,000 year descendant of the Wolf! Really interesting show. A good part of it was showing the effects of selective breeding over the years......you mean GMO?????? That "awful" acronym?. The Border Collie evolution was explained along with sled dogs, the big guy up in Nova Scotia that swims and the fast runners in the desert. References were showing the Wolf characteristics in each breed covered.
