Was hauling a load of bales this summer with my brother's 98 Dodge 2500 Cummins diesel club cab. Going about 45 mph on the gravel. Had 15 bales on at around 1200lbs/bale = 18,000 lbs + weight of trailer yet. Anyways, guy pulls out in front of me so I hits the brakes, nothing, push a little harder and grab for the manual override on the electric controller - a little bit of slow power. So I shift down and let the clutch out, revving the engine to around 2800 rpms and came right up on the guy's bumper but didn't hit him. I was lucky. Turns out the wires were bad on his pickup, so we made the trailer sales place re wire it for free, but it might not have been free had that been a child running out into the street. GET BRAKES, GET THE BEST YOU CAN, AND KEEP THEM SERVICED! Steven
