My farm is about 110 miles northwest of Cedarburg. Back around 1960, I was a pilot with the Wis National Guard. They had their aviation base at the West Bend airport which is just a little ways north of Cedarburg. We flew Beavers, L19s and helicopters. I bought a Mini-Dozer in 1970 which was shortly after they came out. I first saw one on the Johnny Carson show. I had it shipped (kit form) to my home in the NE US. Put it together and used it for all kinds of things. Plowing snow, landscaping, wood hauling, dirt moving, etc. Sold it in 1986 for the same price I paid for it and that guy traded it for a Farmall 300.
I went to the National Farm Machinery show in Louisville this past Feb and took a side trip to Mammoth Cave, Lincoln's birthplace, Churchill Downs, etc. Also visited The Arc. Pretty interesting country. I also spent a good bit of time at old Fort Ka-nox way back when.

The young person asking questions received positive feedback and advice from total strangers who "told it like it is" with the care many reserve for their own kids. The advice is timeless... so although it isn't necessarily antique tractor related, it will be prominently displayed in our archives to honor those who have the courage to ask and those who have the courage to respond in an honest, positive manner.
