Do you want to turn over private corp management and decision-making on labor costs - to the fed govt? Really?
The market will decide of Lowes is going to survive. They have a new CEO who made a mess of JC Penny's already. I don't know why Lowes thought he could turn things around, but he's trying.
HD and Menards have no magic lamp. They buy the same crap from the same mfgs as Lowes. The trick is getting people to pull in to your store, and not the other guy.
I shop a LOT at lowes. I ahve LowesforPros, and I have a relationship with my local store manager. I don't hesitate to bring up a problem employee. I did it just this week. Trying to order kitchen cabinets which were 20% off, but ending on July 31. The assoc couldn't find the coupon needed, even though it was a coupon only discount(in-store only). I went to Chip at the pro desk and he had it solved in 5 minutes. I told him that Tami in kitchens just kept clicking on the same web page repeatedly, thinking it was going to change. I said he needs to do something about that.
I hope the CEO can turn it around soon. We need three big retailers for home supplies. Each time one goes out, prices go up at the others.

Today's Featured Article - 12-Volt Conversions for 4-Cylinder Ford 2000 & 4000 Tractors - by Tommy Duvall. After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
