My wife and I took a drive two hours north of us to Northeast Tractor Salvage in Lyons, NE and picked up a gas tank for one of my H's.
Not much paint on it, so it should match the rest of the tractor. But it's perfectly clean inside. I checked it out with a penlight before I bought it. Charged me $150. Didn't think that was too bad. Several on EBay were price at $250 to $300 with close to $60 shipping, plus you wouldn't have the option of checking them out first.
The plating inside the original tank on this tractor began to deteriorate 15-20 years ago. I used a liner kit on it then, and now the liner is deteriorating and plugging the sediment bowl as fast as I can clean it. I maybe could have gotten by a bit cheaper by trying to clean it and put another liner in it, but how much time can you spend messing around with something like this when you need to use the tractor?
Northeast is OK to deal with. The place isn't too long on looks, but I've always been well satisfied with my dealings.
