Until someone with a more definite answer comes along.. Does the attached drawing look right for you lines? It sounds like you are looking at item 26 or 27. Item 18 is a 37 degree fitting. That would indicate to me the tubes have hex nuts on them that turn. There would be a 37 degree female stem inside the nut that slides onto the tube and is soldered to the tube, but the nut should turn. Is there a hex at that end of the tube? There will not be much clearance between the stem and the hex nut and it might appear to be one piece unless real clean.
Item 18 part number 9402786 is replaced by 128821. If the photo of that part number I found on line is right it support my theory that the tube has a nut on the end of it, that threads onto the union.
If the two tubes connect directly with no union I would expect a rigid male end on one and the matching swivel nut on the mating tube. Just a guess, based on similar tube fittings I've seen. HTH
