I can't imagine that your advance works. There was originally a felt piece in that hole below the rotor which helped hold some oil in there. I'm surprised your springs still exist! There's a plug in the side of the housing where you can fill the cavity around the main bushing with a very light oil also.
I remember some time ago advising someone on here about spraying around some light lube while in there. An expert directly contradicted me to say how terrible it was to have oily points. I've seen oily points still working. And I'd a whole lot sooner have to replace points than deal with corrosion. And here where I live, moisture is the enemy to ignition, not oil.
