I've read good and bad about all makes and most model tractors.
Regarding the 1085's, I'd own one if it were in good condition - no tillage here, just haying. What I'd like to add to my collection of MF tractors (1105 and model 50 diesel) is a MF 285 (utility version of the 1085), a MF245 and a nice gas 3 cylinder Perkins MF 135.
It's interesting to read posts and see pictures of different tractor owners in this site that are all in for a particular brand, MF, Case, JD, IH, Oliver, Allis Chalmers, etc. I think it's kind of cool.
Massey Ferguson and John Deere tractor and implements (along with New Holland) have been very good to me. Other than my old IH Scout 800A, my experience with IH tractor and garden tractors has left much to be desired. However - never say never and if I stumble on a nice IH 66 or 86 series, I might add one to the fleet.
