Randy Assuming that you are convienced that it is not an ignition problem, I suspect it's an exhaust valve beginning to burn or one adjusted a little too tight. If you are using a rain cap, the cap will pop shut momentarily when the offending cylinder is trying to fill. Under load, the offending valve will light off unburnt fuel in the exhaust header. With the engine idling and rain cap removed, place a crisp dollar bill over the exhaust pipe, if the bill is momentarily sucked into the pipe, you've narrowed your search to the exhaust valves.
